Friday after work the husband and I packed up (once again) and headed out of the city and straight for the lake. We met my parents, brother, and our best friends (and Godson!) at the lake house Friday evening, and kicked off the weekend with a cookout and cocktails.
The boys had a big fishing weekend planned out, so as soon as they arrived on Friday they packed up the boat and left out. By Saturday afternoon we got them to stop fishing long enough to take us out on the pontoon boat and take Liam on his first ever boat ride (at only two weeks old! That's got to be some kind of record for youngest kid on the lake!). Liam loved the boat ride - it put him right to sleep! Needless to say, this kid is definitely going to be a water baby!
After a relaxing boat ride, the boys decided they wanted to get adventurous, so we went back to the lake house, grabbed the ski boat (dropped the baby off with my parents) and headed back out for some skiing and wakeboarding. The boys played out on the water while the girls sat back with beer in hand and watched.
After one more fishing trip that afternoon the boys had caught enough fish for us to fry up for a big fish fry that night. We ate, we drank, we laughed, and we had such a wonderful time together.
Cortney and I spent hours this weekend reminiscing about all the lake trips that we had taken together over the years. From beer pong tournaments to college parties to other unmentionables, we have experienced it all at that little lake house over the years. Now we are both married to the loves of our life and she has the cutest little baby in tow. It's safe to say that our lake trips are a little different these days, but I think we had more fun this weekend than ever! It's amazing how much life changes in just a few short years, and I'm excited to see what life hands us next! No matter how much changes, however, we will always cherish our weekends together at the lake.
